Cordell Broadus has one more option to choose from in terms of colleges and universities. The high school football star was recently offered an athletic scholarship to the University of Tennessee (UT) in Knoxville.
Although Cordell has expressed his desire to attend the University of Oregon on several different occasions, students and staff at UT are hoping that he changes his mind. “I think it would be great. A lot of people know Snoop Dogg. It would be good for publicity, too, in getting the UT name out,” says one student. Football DJ Sterling Henton also comments, “We’re happy he’s considering us. I think with the position that he plays, with the coaching he’s going to get, the tradition that he has at this school…we have to be one of the best fit, if not the best fit for him.”
While many are expressing optimism, some locals are not so hopeful of Cordell making UT his college choice. “I think he has the preference to stay on the West Coast,” says media writer Austin Price. “His dad is a big USC guy. It wouldn’t surprise me if he picked USC, UCLA or a team in the PAC-12.”
Austin may be right.
In all of his talks about college offers, Cordell has never publicly expressed the desire to attend a university in the Southern region of the country. In addition, the teen has told media that he wants to live outside of his father’s shadow and attend a school that will allow him to grow as an individual. “I’m looking to really grow as an individual, on and off the field,” said the football star during one interview. “I’m Cordell Broadus and Snoop Dogg’s son so that’s my main goal, trying to make a name for myself,” explained the star during another conversation.
Cordell is Snoop Dogg and wife Shante Broadus’ son. The couple parents three kids in all.
