Reggie Bush is backtracking and correcting comments made about child discipline. The NFL star recently shared a picture of himself with little Briseis, and left a note for critics who took his statement about harsh punishment out of context. “You don’t know us HOMIE! All smiles always Daddy’s Little Princess! #NoFlexZone,” tweeted the star.
Bush came under much scrutiny after telling media that he would discipline his daughter harshly if she did something that warranted such action. “I have a 1-year-old daughter, and I discipline her,” said the star. “I definitely will try to — will obviously not leave bruises or anything like that on her. But I definitely will discipline her harshly depending on what the situation is.”
Reggie was speaking in support Adrian Peterson, who is currently being brought up on felony charges of child abuse for beating his 4-year-old son with a tree branch. Although Bush was trying to get fans to understand both sides of the Peterson case, he ended up making statements that he later had to retract.
“Obviously I’m not going to be spanking a 1-year-old girl,” explained the NFL star during an interview on Wednesday. “We do discipline her a little bit because she does this thing now where if she doesn’t like something or if you say something to her she doesn’t like, she kind of swings at you. So we’re already starting to implement little things like talking to her and saying that’s not OK. I think obviously people took it too far and [said] I was doing much worse and that’s not the case.”
Briseis is Reggie and wife Lilit Bush’s first child together. She was born on May 6, 2013.
