Nia Long is determined to live a fearless life and teaches her kids to do the same. The ‘Single Moms Club’ star graces the cover of ESSENCE magazine’s April issue where she talks about her juggling act as a single mother and actress.
“I’m not a movie star mom who’s got a private chef, a nanny and a driver,” says Long. “My mantra is, ‘You created this, you can handle it.’ I think that if you’re committed to being a great mother, single or not, you’re going to enjoy every moment you have with your children.”
Enjoying every moment is what the star actress does with dance offs and times of pure silliness with her sons at home. “I love when it’s just the three of us and no one can see how silly we’re acting. The preciousness of it all makes the tough days a little bit easier,” explains Nia.
Long strives to teach her kids to be confident individuals and it appears that her efforts have paid off with her eldest son, Massai. The teen recently wrote his mom a letter that thanked her for showing him how to be fearless saying, “You are loving, and are always there for me and my little brother…You have taught me to have a voice and fear nothing but the Lord.”
Massai stars alongside mom in Tyler Perry’s ‘The Single Moms Club,’ which is available for public viewing today. Nial Long also has two kids, Massai and Kez.
