JILL SCOTT: “WORKING WHILE PREGNANT IS NOT AN EASY TASK”

pregnantjillscottPrimetime prop managers have been working overtime covering up the baby bumps of several pregnant actresses on Primetime television. It’s safe to say that pregnancy has its challenges for pregnant working actresses in Hollywood. For expectant actress/singer Jill Scott, however, pregnancy has brought on a different set of challenges.

Although she doesn’t have to hide her pregnancy, HBO’s “The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency” star Jill Scott, says that filming in Africa for her HBO television series was tough.

“Working while pregnant is not an easy task especially when working in 100 degree weather in Botswana, Africa — I found out I was pregnant the day before I had a 20+ hours flight down to Africa.”

“During those first few months of filming, when I had morning sickness every day, I was certain I had made the wrong decision. But three months in, my body decided that I couldn’t carry on being as tired and as sick as I had been and it all stopped. She continues, “But I was still working 14-hour days, six days a week, in stifling heat, while at the same time trying to feel “sexual and vibrant” in the way Mma Ramotswe does all of the time. I like a challenge, but I wouldn’t want to go through that again. Ever.”

So why didn’t the pregnant actress have to cover up her baby bump? Jill says, “my character role didn’t need me to lose weight especially when it was impossible to do that being pregnant so there was no need to hide my pregnancy.”

Jill and her fiancé Lil’ John Roberts will welcome their baby boy on April 25th.
