Jacquees is working on himself with his son, Snow, in mind.
During an appearance on The Jason Lee Show, the singer discussed raising his 2-year-old and why he is working to keep more of his personal life off the internet.
Jacquees and Deiondra Sanders welcomed Snow in August 2024, a month after getting engaged at their baby shower. The two later split and have since had several public disagreements over co-parenting.
During one of those exchanges, Jacquees accused Sanders of lying and wrote on social media, “Can somebody please help her?”
Lee revisited the post during the show’s “Erase the Shade” segment, and Jacquees said he would erase his response.
“Yeah, erase it for sure. Cuz I don’t want to even speak on her or, you know, put negative light on anything,” he told Lee.
These days, Jacquees says he is learning that everything does not need a public response, and his son is one of the reasons he wants to handle things differently.
“Uh my son. I have to be better for Snow,” he said. “You know, I want him to be great. I want him to be greater than me in all aspects. You know what I’m saying? So that’s why I have to make sure I’m on my I’m on my square.”
Becoming a parent has also affected his music. Before welcoming Snow, Jacquees noticed that many of his fans and peers were having children and felt he could no longer relate to some of their experiences.
“Like, you know, my peers, it’s like they doing different things. I’m still like talking about this that. So, when I had my son, my conversation about music changed,” he explained.
Elsewhere in the interview, Lee revisited Jacquees’ past statement that women should go to jail for keeping fathers away from their children. The singer stood by it.
“I I stand on that. It’s a lot of fathers, great fathers out here that’s not getting to be great fathers. You know what I’m saying?” Jacquees said.
On the subject of celebrating mothers on Father’s Day, Jacquees said he did not find it disrespectful.
“Nah, it ain’t disrespectful. It depends on what role their father played in their life,” he told Lee.
“Every man could look in the mirror and know what role he played in his child’s life and know what type of respect he deserved from his child,” he added.
