Amber “AD” Desiree Smith is finding that motherhood looks a little different from what she expected.
In a new interview with Glamour, the Love Is Blind star opened up about her first 10 months as a mom and how her parenting style differs from what she had imagined.
“In general, I thought I was going to be way more type A than I am. I’m more relaxed than I thought I was going to be. I’m B minus, type B minus,” she told the publication.
Her more laid-back approach extends to bedtime. AD no longer feels pressure to keep her baby on a strict sleep schedule.
“At first I thought I needed to, but I don’t. She’s fine,” she said of sleep training.
Smith, who shares her daughter with husband Ollie Sutherland, enjoys matching outfits with her little girl when they’re not spending the day at home in pajamas.
“I love dressing up and twinning with my daughter; she’ll wear something really fancy, and I love to match her,” she said.
Her personal style has changed slightly, though, because she now has to dress with breastfeeding in mind.
“But also, I have to think about, What is easy for me to pull my boob out and feed her? I can’t wear one-pieces or any of that anymore,” Smith explained. “Now it just has to be easy access to milkies.”
As for baby gear, AD named the Doona car seat and stroller as her favorite purchase for her daughter this year and said it has lived up to the social media hype.
“Oh, girl, the Doona. I feel like I’m like the Doona rep over here,” she joked. “Everybody’s like, ‘Get it for travel, get it for travel.’ And immediately, yes. That’s like my second purse. I just throw it on and go.”
