DC Young Fly poked fun at his daughter Nova during a recent comedy show, and she had the best reaction.
While Nova stood in the audience, the comedian joked about a pair of cheetah-print boots that she loves to wear.
“My daughter likes wearing these cheetah print boot shoes,” DC told the crowd. “We’re in the summertime, it’s been 150 degrees. This MFer keeps wearing these cheetah print UGG boot shoes. I hate these goddamn shoes, but I can’t tell my daughter that I hate these motherf—ing shoes.”
The camera then panned to Nova, who responded, “Well, he’s telling me now.”
DC also recalled a young boy named Antoine roasting Nova over the same pair of shoes.
“As soon as I walked in, the little boy, Antoine, he looked at my shoes and he said, ‘Ooh, look out. She ain’t gotta worry about going to the zoo ’cause the zoo on her feet,’” he shared.
Even the comedian had to admit the joke was good.
“I said, ‘That was good.’”
DC Young Fly shares three children, daughters Nova and Nala and son Prince’Nehemiah, with his late partner, Jacky Oh.
Jacky died in May 2023 at the age of 32. Since her passing, DC has been raising their children while dealing with his own grief, something he recently opened up about during an interview with Pretty Vee.

When asked how he has handled becoming a single father while mourning someone who meant so much to him and his family, DC admitted that he is still processing everything.
“I still have to steadily process things, and I got to keep moving forward for my children whether I want to or not,” he said.
The father of three explained that he has experienced several losses throughout his life, but losing Jacky has been different.
“I done had many losses, and every loss hit different,” DC shared. “This loss is one of them ones.”

While some loved ones who have passed may cross his mind every few weeks or months, he said Jacky is different.
“This one every day, man. This one every day,” he said. “Every day. This one is every day.”
DC said reminders of Jacky are everywhere, especially when he is spending time with their children.
“Every time I have a moment with my kids, I’m like, it’s always stopped where it’s like, ‘Ah, man, I wish you could see this.’ It’s every day.”
Still, the comedian knows that life and fatherhood require him to keep going, even on days when he would rather withdraw from everyone around him.
“I have to constantly restrain from being emotional all the time,” he explained. “Even though I may not want to be bothered, I gotta be bothered.”
That can be especially difficult in public, where fans may approach DC without knowing what he is dealing with internally.
“They don’t care what you thinking about,” he said. “I can literally be thinking about her.”
