On Wednesday, Nov. 13, the 14-year-old took to Instagram Stories to clarify how her blended family works. In classic teenage fashion, she made it short, direct, and crystal clear.

“clearing something up guys,” she wrote. “i only have ONE brother who is @moroccan.cannon. i do have other half siblings from my dad but they are all many many years younger than me!”

Monroe and her twin brother Moroccan, affectionately known as Roc and Roe, were born in 2011, three years after Mariah Carey and Nick secretly tied the knot in a private Bahamas ceremony. Since the couple’s 2014 split and 2016 divorce, Nick has gone on to welcome 10 more children across multiple relationships, making their family tree one of the most talked-about in pop culture.

The Wild ‘N Out host shares Golden Sagon, Rise Messiah, and Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, plus daughter Beautiful Zeppelin, with Abby De La Rosa; Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; and Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole. He also shares daughter Halo Marie and the late Zen with Alyssa Scott.

Despite the sprawling family dynamics, Nick has always expressed how deeply connected he feels to Monroe. He previously told People Magazine that she helped him through one of the darkest moments of his life, the loss of his infant son Zen.

“My daughter, really, she’s so in tune and in line and wise beyond her years,” he shared. “I got a lot of therapists, but she’s probably my best therapist… She keeps me in check. She’s so pure and honest.” He added that Monroe embraces her role as the eldest. “Even though they’re twins, she came out first and she lets everybody know it. She’s helped me keep it strong.”

As for Mariah Carey, she’s kept her commentary measured. When Gayle King asked about co-parenting with the father-of-12 during a CBS Mornings segment taped in September, she responded carefully. “I kind of feel like it’s best if I don’t talk about him, because he can just be in his own world.” She added, “No offense to him.”
