Usher’s latest music video for the song “Ruin” features a cameo by his three-year-old daughter, Sovereign Bo.
In the video, which was filmed on an iPhone 15 Pro, Usher reflects on his past relationships with several different women. Ultimately, there’s only one girl who has stolen heart-his favorite girl, Sovereign Bo.
Released on Friday (February 2), the Afrobeats-inspired song, Ruin, features Nigerian producer and singer Pheelz. The single offers a sneak peek into Usher’s forthcoming album, “Coming Home,” slated for release on February 9th, just before his highly anticipated Super Bowl performance on February 11th.
“Coming Home” boasts a stellar lineup, with appearances from talented artists such as Latto, Burna Boy, The-Dream, and BTS’s Jung Kook.
In a recent interview with Club Shay Shay, Usher opened up about about the creative process behind his new album.
“I put a lot of heart and time into making sure that this was curated right. Something that felt like this next chapter of my life. It’s the next frontier, the next chapter of my legacy,” he said.
During the same interview, the proud father of four candidly discussed the challenges his children face growing up in the shadow of a famous musician. He expressed empathy towards his children, acknowledging the unique upbringing they experience compared to their peers.
“That is a harsh reality, which is more the reason why you gotta be harder on them. But mindful that their normal is different than our normal … the expectation is actually higher,” the “OMG” singer said. “That’s the one thing that I have empathy for my children.”
Usher shares his sons Usher “Cinco” V, 16, and Naviyd Ely, 15, with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, as well as a daughter, Sovereign Bo, 3, and a son, Sire Castrello, 2, with his longtime girlfriend, Jenn Goicoechea.
