Disney Channel officially has a baking show! Disney’s Magic Bake-Off, hosted by Dara Renee and Issac Ryan Brown, premiered on the Disney Channel last night (Friday, August 13, 2021), and the kick-off was nothing short of phenomenal.

There was no shortlist of talent as all of the young bakers clearly brought their A-game. Perhaps, the most incredible part about the show’s premiere, in addition to the cakes, is the age of the contestants. All Disney’s Magic Bake-Off competitors are under the age of 15-years-old. Still, the expertise displayed during Friday night’s premiere was something you may expect to see on an adult cooking show featuring bakery shop owners in competition for the win.
“I was so shocked,” Issac Ryan Brown tells BCK regarding the ages of the contestants. “I feel like they would save the harder challenges for the younger kids,” the show’s co-host adds. “These kids, they really come in and slay,” Brown further dotes. “I feel like everyone’s going to relate to the kids as far as that pressure goes.”
Viewers can also feel the energy coming from the co-hosts. There is surely never a dull moment when Issac Ryan Brown from Raven’s Home teams up with Dara Renee of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
“This is my first time hosting, and sometimes I get nervous,” Renee admits. ‘But I can’t be nervous because I don’t want to make the kids nervous,” the actress adds. “It’s just been such a pleasure and I’ve learned so much. I couldn’t have asked for a better co-host,” Dara says in reference to her partner in excitement.
Dara Renee also appreciates the level of skill the contestants bring to the show. “These young bakers are so talented,” the actress shares with BCK. “I’m looking at them and I’m like, ‘You know what I was doing at your age? Falling down the stairs and being clumsy. Y’all over here making ganache,'” the co-host muses. “It’s so amazing how talented and knowledgeable these young bakers are.”
One young baker brings so much talent this season that Issac Ryan Brown crowns their cake as the best he’s ever tasted. “The best cake I’ve ever tasted in my life was on the show,” the actor reveals. “It’s a very different flavor,” Brown says when describing the dessert. “I’ve never seen it in stores before,” he adds. ‘The first time I ever heard of it was on the show. And I had my doubts. I looked at it and said, ‘There’s no way.’ [But] it was just delicious.”
