Storm Reid is the new face of Maybelline.
The talented Euphoria actress posted the exciting news on Instagram.
“A STORM is coming to @Maybelline New York! Wow. I’m absolutely honored. FLOORED to join the Maybelline Family, and be a part of a brand with a shared mission to inspire, drive change, and empower women. I can’t wait to create more beautiful things together. It’s only up from here. #globalspokesperson.”
The seventeen-year-old actress and producer made history by breaking tradition with her appointment.
“We have traditionally used models,” Amy Whang, senior vice president of U.S. marketing at Maybelline, told WWD in a recent interview. “But in a lot of our advertising, we’ve tapped into new talent. We wanted to align ourselves with a spokesperson that really resonated with the Generation-Z consumer.” That person is Reid, whom Trisha Ayyagari, global brand president for Maybelline New York Worldwide, describes as “a standout voice and changemaker” and “a courageous champion of equality,” with “energy that lights up any room.”
Reid has been very vocal about racial equality and inclusion. With the founding her production company, she has produced several short films that give a voice of empowerment to the next generations. As a part of her true altruistic spirit, Reid will lend her voice to both Maybelline’s Brave Together initiative, which supports those with anxiety and depression. She will also help the brand with their diversity initiatives.
“Maybelline has been in my family for as long as I can remember,” Reid said in a statement about her new appointment. “I’m looking forward to this new chapter with Maybelline where I will be able to use my voice to champion young women and my generation through my work with the brand.”
