The holidays are fast approaching, and so is “One Fine Christmas”, OWN’s (Oprah Winfrey Network) first original holiday movie. “One Fine Christmas” stars three-time NBA champion turned actor Rick Fox and his daughter Sasha Fox. Directed by Fred Olen Ray, the film also stars “The Jeffersons” actress Marla Gibbs and “The Flash” actress Vanessa Williams, not to be confused with “Desperate Housewives” actress and Sasha Fox’s mother Vanessa Williams.
“One Fine Christmas” follows three families on Christmas Street that are so busy they overlook the significance of family during the Christmas season. Haley (Sasha Fox) returns home for the holidays, but since her parents split up it has not been the same. Her mother Susan (Williams) is working on a deal with her client (Rick Fox), leaving her no time to spend with Haley and her own mother Alice (Gibbs). Al (Mark Christopher Lawrence) is so caught up in his work that he neglects his wife Matty (June Carol) while Bob (Rodney Van Johnson) and Diana’s (Eva La Dare) son Jesse (Alfonso Torres Caballero) arrives home with a special surprise. “This ‘slice of life’ holiday tale shares the individual stories of these neighbors as they celebrate Christmas Eve and find themselves unexpectedly united for the holiday season,” according to the official synopsis.
“One Fine Christmas” premieres on November 15 at 9 pm ET/PT as the first movie of the “OWN for the Holidays” slate, a set of three OWN-produced original holiday movies airing over three consecutive November Fridays. Following “One Fine Christmas” is “Carole’s Christmas” starring Jackée Harry and Kimberly Elise; a film about an overburdened businesswoman who learns the meaning of “be careful what you wish for” the hard way. Completing the movie trio is “Baking Christmas” starring Tim Reid and Aloma Wright; a story of siblings competing to take control of their mother’s bakery. The films premiere on November 22 and November 29 respectively.
