AYESHA CURRY OPENS UP ABOUT HER POSTPARTUM ‘BOTCHED’ SURGERY, BEING A WORKING MOM, AND MORE

"A Lot Of People Do Not Take Me Seriously"

She is more than Steph Curry’s wife. Ayesha Curry talks with Working Mother about her may businesses, which include her Homemade brand and restaurants.

“I think a lot of people do not take me seriously,” Ayesha shares. “They think this is something I’ve obtained because of my husband’s income. That’s not true. He hasn’t invested a dime in my restaurant business.”

Who has invested money into Ayesha’s passion-turned-business is the celebrity mom’s mentor, Michael Mina. The chef migrated to the United States in the 1980s and managed to find success in the culinary field. Ayesha had the opportunity to sit down with her role model a few years ago. She asked him all of the questions she could think to pose.

“I made it a point to ask hard-hitting questions other people might be afraid to ask when meeting someone you admire,” Curry reveals. Questions turned into hands-on training that led Ayesha to embrace her passion for cooking. “I think that’s when he realized I had the bug, and our partnership just grew from there,” the celebrity mom says.

With a restaurant partnership with her mentor in the works ad an upcoming show, Family Food Fight on the roster, there appears to be nothing standing in Ayesha Curry’s way. The celebrity mom would, however, like a world in which she and her family were embraced more by the African-American community.

“My own community needs to embrace everyone better,” Curry says. “Sometimes I feel like I’m too black for the white community, but I’m not black enough for my own community. That’s a hard thing to carry,” she adds. “I’m not in the entertainment industry, in the traditional sense. I’m not thin; I’m 170 pounds on a good day. It’s been a journey for me, and that’s why I want my girls to understand who they are—and to love it.”

Loving the skin that she is in continues to be an everyday task as Ayesha Curry lives with what she describes as “botched” postpartum surgery. “I didn’t realize at the time, but after having Ryan, I was battling a bit of postpartum that lingered for a while. It came in the form of me being depressed about my body,” the celebrity mom shares.

“So I made a rash decision. The intention was just to have them lifted, but I came out with these bigger boobs I didn’t want. I got the most botched boob job on the face of the planet. They’re worse now than they were before. I would never do anything like that again.”

Ayesha and Steph Curry have two daughters, Ryan and Riley, together. The couple also has a son named Canon who celebrates his first birthday in July. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
