Tyrese Maxey brought his 4-month-old daughter, Marvel, along to the Philadelphia 76ers’ Blue x White Scrimmage on Saturday.
While sitting on the bench, Maxey handed his baby girl to teammate LeBron James before briefly stepping away.
Wearing tiny noise-canceling headphones, Marvel looked perfectly comfortable in James’ arms. At one point, he settled the tiny tot on his lap and gently bounced her.
When Maxey returned about a minute later, James handed Marvel back to her dad, who immediately went back to doting on his daughter.
The NBA posted a video of the interaction on social media with the caption, “Uncle Bron on babysitting duties.”
The clip quickly made the rounds online, with fans dubbing James “LeBabysitter” and joking that Marvel had landed the “world’s most expensive babysitter.”
LeBron later reposted the clip to his Instagram Story with a message of his own.
“Uncle Bron on babysitting duty! When unk is called upon you handle with care! LOL. she’s the best,” he wrote.
Maxey and Myra Gordon welcomed Marvel, their first child, on May 14.
A few months into fatherhood, the 25-year-old guard opened up to The Philadelphia Inquirer about how having a daughter had already changed his perspective.
“It just makes me want to be more involved,” Maxey said. “Especially going through the experiences of a three-month-old. I’m just grateful. Grateful to be a father. Grateful to be someone who can protect her, watch her grow up, and try to be a loving person in her life.”
James also knows a thing or two about being a girl dad. He and his wife, Savannah James, are parents to sons Bronny and Bryce and 11-year-old daughter Zhuri.
The NBA star has previously spoken about how having a daughter after raising two boys changed him.
“It’s definitely softened me up over the last 11 years,” James said during an interview earlier this year. “I had two boys to begin with, but getting a little girl 11 years ago, man, it’s definitely softened me up. It’s special to have her. You know, it’s a different type of love.”
