USHER AND TAMEKA FOSTER DROP SON CINCO OFF AT HOWARD UNIVERSITY

Usher and Tameka Foster are officially the parents of a college student.

The former couple recently dropped their eldest son, Usher Raymond V, off at Howard University, where he is beginning his freshman year.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Usher shared a video from move-in day along with a message to his son.

“Hey, Cinco! Yeah! This is just the beginning, man. What a wild and amazing adventure,” the singer said in the clip. “You here in the Mecca. It’s your time to shine, kid.”

He continued, “You wanted this, you manifested this, you called this into action. You didn’t give up. And now this is just your beginning, man. I’m so proud of you. It’s your time. It’s your time to shine. You show ’em what Usher is now.”

Tameka was just as emotional about sending Usher V off to college. The fashion stylist shared photos from move-in weekend and admitted she went all out to make sure Cinco’s dorm was ready.

“Momma tiiiired,” she began, joking that her usual saying, “one for the books,” was especially fitting this time because her son was headed off to college.

Tameka said the family made multiple trips and brought in furniture and wallpaper. She even scrubbed his dorm room from top to bottom to make sure he had everything he needed to start the new chapter.

“Bittersweet doesn’t even cover it,” she wrote. “I cried before I left home. I cried on the way back.”

Despite the tears, Tameka said she couldn’t be prouder to see her son attending an HBCU and beginning a life of his own.

“I always tell my boys the world is their oyster… they just have to focus and go get it,” she shared. “Watching him actually do it? There’s nothing like it.”

The milestone also had Tameka thinking back to Cinco’s earliest days. She recalled dropping him off at daycare as a baby and spending a week staring through the window after leaving him there.

“OK now I’m crying again,” she joked.

Usher V, affectionately known as Cinco, is the oldest of Usher and Tameka’s two sons. The former couple also shares son Naviyd Ely Raymond.
