CC Sabathia was officially inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown over the weekend and his biggest supporters were right there with him: his wife and kids.
Getting to the ceremony, however, came with a few bumps along the way. The family ran into car trouble en route, a moment they hilariously shared with fans on social media.

“It was an adventure,” Sabathia said in an interview. “For my family, whenever it’s six of us traveling somewhere together, something’s always going to go wrong. We have a group chat that’s called ‘Strong as a Unit,’ because when we’re all together, no matter what happens, we know we can get through it.”
The ceremony itself was delayed by rain, but Sabathia, 45, eventually took the stage and delivered a speech focused less on his stats and more on the people who got him there-his mom Margie and his wife Amber Sabathia.
“No one has more fun hanging out with the fellas than me, but I have been blessed to have so many wise and caring women in my life…You’d be lucky to have even one of those women in your life, and I’ve had them all, a village of women who raised me, guided me, made me laugh, fed me, protected me, and a few times literally saved me,” said Sabathia.
He also praised Amber, his high school sweetheart, for always knowing how to handle him. “She knows how to navigate me like no one else does,” he said.
With their four kids—Carsten, Carter, Jaeden, and Cyia—watching proudly, the moment was about more than baseball. For the Sabathias, it was a win for the whole team.
“Thank you, Baseball Hall of Fame,” Sabathia added, “for making the Sabathias part of your family.”
