Candice Patton and retired NBA player J.R. Smith have welcomed their first child together- a baby boy!
On Friday, Sept. 27, Patton shared the news with her Instagram followers, posting a sweet series of photos showing her newborn son’s tiny feet.
The actress, best known for her role on The Flash, captioned, “Son in Virgo. Born at home. Heart now beats outside of my chest. In love forevermore.”
J.R. Smith also took to his Instagram to post pictures of the new baby, making sure to keep the bundle of joy’s face covered.
While the couple’s announcement was met with congratulatory messages, it also sparked curiosity from some fans about Smith’s relationship status with his estranged wife, Shirley “Jewel” Smith.
Back in 2019, J.R.’s marriage made headlines after Jewel shared an emotional prayer on Instagram. In a nearly 10-minute video, Jewel prayed for both her husband and a woman named “Candice,” who we now know is Candice Patton.
“My husband, he’s hurting and Candice, Lord Father God, she’s hurting … For her to go out here, Lord Father God, and seek a married man, Father God, I just pray that you give her grace and mercy through all of this. I lift her up.”
She continued, “God I am asking, father God, as your servant, to please help and heal my husband … and please forgive him because he know not what he do.”
Jewel also asked for forgiveness for both her husband and his mistress, saying, “Please forgive them lord because they don’t know the path of destruction that is before them father God for coming against your daughter!”
Smith and Jewel are the parents of daughters Dakota, 7, and Denver, 4.He is also the father of a 15-year-old daughter, Peyton, from a previous relationship, while Jewel has a daughter named Demi from a prior relationship as well.
