Iman Shumpert and Teyana Taylor are seemingly back at it again, legally. According to TMZ, The former NBA has returned to court seeking that his child support order be readjusted, claiming that Taylor makes more money than he does.
The ex-NBA player is arguing that he should not be obliged to pay the current amount of child support that he is paying since Taylor allegedly earns nearly double his monthly income.
According to the filed court documents obtained by TMZ, Shumpert stated that his monthly pre-tax earnings are around $47,981, whereas his ex reportedly receives $98,885 each month. Shumpert is is currently paying $8,000 per month in child support. He is requesting that the court consider allowing him to, “… pay health insurance for “major” medical expenses … but he wants to split the cost of the kids’ other health services.”
Shumpert and Taylor share two minor children: 8-year-old Junie and 3-year-old Rue. Three months ago, Taylor alleged that Shumpert’s new “friend” was “confusing” their children. At the time, Taylor submitted court documents, asking the court to allow her to call upon a child psychologist to testify in their ongoing proceedings as to the impact of a new female “friend” sleeping over at Shumpert’s home while his minor children were present.
According to TMZ at the time, Taylor believed that Shumpert should not showcase his relationship during his limited custodial time with their daughters. Shumpert has custody of Junie and Rue every first and third weekend of the month, along with a few Fridays.
Every since Taylor secretly filed for divorce in January 2023, the couple has been fighting over finances. From home renovations to child support issues and everything in between, Taylor and Shumpert have not been able to come to an amicable finalization of their marital assets. We are hoping that they bring some a cooperative spirit to their proceedings soon as they must remember, their children are watching.
