DeSean Jackson has filed for sole custody of his sons, claiming his ex Kayla Phillips has abandoned their children.
In documents obtained by The Blast, the former NFL star alleges that Phillips only saw their kids twice in 2023.
Jackson recounts that following his separation from Kayla in 2020, he relocated to California, leaving the children in Florida. In February 2023, he traveled to Florida to bring them back to California for a visit.
However, when it was time for the visit to end, Phillips allegedly postponed their return multiple times, eventually cutting off contact with Jackson.
Phillips “stopped calling me about the children’s return, so I enrolled the children in school here in Los Angeles and the children have been living with me since,” Jackson said, per the docs, before claiming she “has abandoned the children.”
Adding to the complexity of the situation, DeSean claims that Kayla has become a member of a religious group called “The Most High” and is “dating a man with cult-like behavior”.
She “appears to be brainwashed by the doctrine of ‘The Most High’,” Jackson said, adding that, she is “living a carefree life that does not include the children.”
Moreover, the NFL star says that his ex “appears erratic on Facebook video posts and has said “that the members of The Most High are WOKE and everybody else is not.”
Consequently, Jackson is seeking full custody of their children and supervised visitation rights for Phillips if she desires to reconnect with the boys. He has additionally filed for Child Abduction Prevention Orders, citing fears over Phillips’ involvement with “The Most High”
“We don’t know what [Phillips] is capable of since she joined ‘The Most High’ cult which is why we have filed the request For Child Abduction Prevention Orders,” the docs state.
Meanwhile, Phillips has not responded to the allegations.
