Actors Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have reached a custody agreement in regards to their two shared children amid their divorce.
Fifty-six-year-old Bonet filed for divorce in the Superior Court of California on Monday and the couple was granted their dissolution of marriage after seven years the following day. Bonet cited irreconcilable differences as the reason she was seeking to end the marriage. On her filing, the Game of Thrones actress listed October 7, 2020 as the couple’s official date of separation.
Per their Marital Settlement Agreement, or MSA, “they each are fully satisfied with regard to the disclosures provided” and “they are sufficiently knowledgeable about the terms of the MSA, the value of the assets divided between them and the incomes of each of them.”
According to People Magazine, the couple seemingly worked out terms of their settlement prior to their official filing, which also includes custody of their daughter Lola, 16, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 15.
The couple’s MSA states that the 44-year-old Aquaman star and the A Different World alum were both “awarded joint legal custody” of their minor children. Both Moma and Bonet will be equally responsible for their children’s health, living expenses, education and welfare. At the time of publishing, no child support order has been made public.
In terms of spousal support, both Momoa and Bonet have waived the right to seek spousal support from one another. “Such waiver of support is permanent and final and no court anywhere ever shall have the power or jurisdiction to award spousal support in favor of either party,” their MSA states.
Moma and Bonet tied the knot in secret in 2017 after 10-years of dating. Two years ago, the couple announced their split in a joint statement.
“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” the joint statement read. “And so we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage.”
“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty,” the statement continued. “The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become…”
The statement concluded, “Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life and our children. Teaching our children what’s possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail. J & L.”
Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf are the only children for Momoa. Bonet has an elder daughter, 35-year-old Zoe Kravitz, with whom she shares with music legend, Lenny Kravitz.
Per California law, there is a six-month waiting period to finalize a divorce. Momoa and Bonet will be officially single on July 9, 2024.
