JASON MOMOA TALKS BINGING “FRIENDS” AND BEDTIME RITUALS WITH KIDS

We all know that Jason Momoa is one truly talented actor and doting father. Recently, the “pride of gypsies,” as he titles himself on Instagram, sat down with People Magazine to talk binging Friends and the bedtime rituals that he shares with his kids, 15-year-old Lola Iolani, and 13-year-old Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo.

“When they were young, it was beautiful because we’d tell stories and have wrestling matches and do all kinds of fun, cute things, but now my children are 15 and 13½, so they generally watch something,” Momoa explains in his interview with the popular news outlet.

Just which 90’s sitcoms do they binge? Well, not only to they binge the popular NBC hit show, Friends, Sienfeld is also on their watch list.

“So the things we’ve been watching are pretty funny. My daughter’s massively into Friends. It’s a trip to watch what I probably watched when I was a kid, now that my daughter loves this show. So, I’m totally submerged back into Friends,” he said. “And then we moved on to the next one, and so it’s Seinfeld. So, it’s kind of fun that they actually like 90s pop culture [and] sitcoms.”

In the interview, Aquaman turned momentarily from talking about his upcoming new Netflix movie, Slumberland.

“I’ve got to tell you, to play in this role really unlocked a lot of things for me,” he said in the interview. “I actually got to watch it with my children yesterday and with Marlow, [Barkley portrays Nemo in the film], and her family. It’s weird when you tear up watching your own stuff. It blew me away, and I just was so emotional. This role just let me really be free, and the character is so fun.”

Slumberland is based on a comic strip, “Little Nemo in Slumberland”. If you have yet to hear about the upcoming movie, here is a brief synopsis of the film according to IMDb.

A young girl discovers a secret map to the dreamworld of Slumberland, and with the help of an eccentric outlaw, she traverses dreams and flees nightmares, with the hope that she will be able to see her late father again.

Critics tout Momoa in the film as he is able to show off his acting range. His character is more often than not, both eccentric and comedic. Momoa’s character represents the inner child.

“I became an actor. I can’t get out of it. I’m trying to be adult as possible. But the truth of it is, I just love to play, and it’s fun to be creative and use your imagination,” Momoa said, adding: “My kids keep me young, and doing the things you love to do, just playing.”

Slumberland will premiere on the streaming giant on November 18.
