Negotiated by Long’s attorney, Samantha Spector, the settlement accounts for Ime Udoka’s high annual earnings as well as Nia’s career as a high-earning actress and businesswoman.

Udoka, the head coach for the Houston Rockets, has a lucrative contract valued at $28.5 million for four years. With an annual salary of $6.75 million as of 2023, the negotiation factored in Udoka’s monthly disposable income of $465,804 to ensure a fair arrangement.

Given Udoka’s extensive travel commitments during the NBA season, the agreement stipulates that he has less than a 5% timeshare with their son for the 2023-2024 season, while Long has approximately 95% timeshare in Los Angeles, California.

He is entitled to reasonable visitation, and both parents will collaborate to facilitate his visitation. Long holds decision-making authority in case of disagreement, with advanced notice to Udoka, except for routine and emergency medical matters.

The agreement also outlines that Udoka will maintain their son’s health and dental insurance, and decisions regarding the child’s health, education, and welfare will be made collaboratively.

Initially, Long filed for sole physical and legal custody with visitation rights for Udoka. In turn, Ime requested shared physical and legal custody, including equal authority in essential decisions such as medical treatment, schooling, and religion.

The high-profile breakup of the former couple garnered attention due to allegations of Udoka’s infidelity, leading to his termination from the Boston Celtics. Long expressed heartbreak over their son’s struggles, especially when the private situation became public without any outreach from the Celtics organization to check on their well-being.
