Jeannie Mai is pushing back against Jeezy’s recent claim that she’s ‘gatekeeping‘ their daughter amid their divorce proceedings.
In response to Jeezy’s request for a hearing to establish a temporary custody schedule, Jeannie submitted court documents asserting that his accusations are unfounded.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the television host refutes Jeezy’s assertion that she is preventing him from spending time with their 1-year-old daughter, Monaco. She claims to have been accommodating, granting Jeezy all the requested dates for visitation and allowing an extended period over the Christmas holiday.
While Mai wants her estranged husband to play an active role in their daughter’s life, she cites safety as her primary concern. In the filed documents, Jeannie insists that her focus on ensuring her daughter’s safety is not gatekeeping but a responsible effort to “prioritize the child’s well-being”.
Her attorney writes, “It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecured in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s well-being.”
Jeannie’s lawyer further explained that her requests for safety measures come from genuine concern for her daughter’s security.
“These requests are grounded in Ms. Jenkins’ genuine concern for the parties’ daughter’s safety and security, especially when under the care of others and traveling across the country, and are reasonable protective measures, not an attempt to restrict Mr. Jenkins’ access to their daughter.”
Jeezy filed for divorce from Jeannie Mai after two years of marriage. According to legal documents, the couple are “currently living in a bona fide state of separation.”
