Darius Rucker recently received a career honor, his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With his entire family at the event to show their support for the country star, Rucker took a moment during his speech to give his children a special shout-out, saying that they are “everything to me.”
“Cary, Dani and Jack are my heart, they’re my soul,” the former lead singer and guitarist for the band Hootie & the Blowfish said. Rucker continued, “They’re everything to me and everything I do is for them. It’s just been an amazing thing to be your father.”
Rucker then turned directly to his children, addressing them saying, “As great as all this stuff is, it’s not as cool as being your dad, and I really mean that. I love you guys so much.”
The 57-year-old musician is father to Carolyn, 28, Daniella, 22, and Jack, 18. Rucker shares his eldest daughter with ex-Elizabeth Ann Phillips. He shares his daughter Daniella and son Jack with his estranged wife, Beth Leonard.
In a previous interview with People Magazine, Rucker talked about being a true “empty-nester” as his eldest daughters have graduated from college and his son, is now a high school graduate, headed to university.
“I’m scared. I hope I don’t have too much fun,” he said jokingly in his interview with the publication. “But you’re just so proud of your kids and reaching those milestones. I better spend time playing a lot of golf and traveling around and probably traveling to the city that they’re at so I can see them.”
As Rucker’s eldest daughter is in Nashville and his other daughter and son are in New York, the “Beers and Sunshine” singer said at the time that they rely on FaceTime calls to keep in touch.
“When phones and FaceTime came into play, it made it a lot easier. [I] just try to call every day.”
Congratulations, Darius on your career honor!
