BEYONCE’S NEW FILM HIGHLIGHTS BLUE IVY’S REACTION TO ONLINE CRITICISM

The eagerly awaited documentary, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” had its world premiere in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 25.

The film, which gives fans a closer look at Beyoncé’s most recent world tour, also unexpectedly spotlights the emergence of a new star – Blue Ivy Carter.

During the Renaissance tour, audiences were treated to the surprise debut of Blue Ivy alongside her mother Beyoncé during renditions of “MY POWER” and “BLACK PARADE.” What started as a one-time event turned into a recurring occurrence, thanks to Blue Ivy’s persistent enthusiasm.

In the documentary, Beyoncé candidly reveals her initial reluctance to allowing her daughter to take the stage.

“She told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no,” Beyoncé says in the film.

The film explores the challenges Blue Ivy faced after convincing her mother to let her take the stage.

NY Times journalist Kyle Buchanan highlighted one of the documentary’s most intriguing moments – Blue’s reaction to reading negative comments online about her performance. Despite facing criticism for what some deemed as lackluster moves, the tween chose not to be disheartened. Instead, she saw this as an opportunity for growth.

Buchanan notes that Beyoncé was dismayed when Blue encountered criticism “but it thrilled her mother that instead of quitting, she decided to put in the work and train even harder for future stops,” wrote Kyle Buchanan.

The documentary also sheds light on Blue Ivy’s behind-the-scenes involvement in the tour, where she provided her often un-sugarcoated opinions on stage design, song choices, and more. The New York Times describes her as an “amusingly irreverent presence”, reminding everyone that, to her, Beyoncé is “just a mom”.

Fans will have to wait until Dec. 1 to fill AMC Theatre seats to view the nearly three-hour film.
