Tia Mowry continues to encourage moms to move forward in life with confidence. The veteran actress took to Instagram last week to celebrate her latest family shoot that was noticeably different from past sessions.
“Not too long ago, my friend Becki reached out to me and asked if she could take some photos of my family,” Tia said of the motivation behind her latest photo session with her kids. “At first, I felt a bit hesitant, as I’m sure many of you know my family dynamic has changed,” Mowry shared.
Tia and her husband, Cory Hardrict, decided to end their marriage of more than 10 years last year. The celebrity couple finalized the measures of their marriage dissolution earlier this year.
“A part of my decision [to file for divorce] was also for [my kids],” Tia said during a recent interview. “For them seeing their mother walk in truth, I feel like it’s a great lesson for them because it was not an easy decision, ”the celebrity mom shared.
“It was one of the hardest decisions that I had ever had to make in my entire life,” Mowry continued. “But if they see that mommy can do it, that mommy, no matter what people say, no matter, even if there’s some sort of doubt, whatever, mommy pushed through. [They can say] my mommy is living and chasing her truth. I want my children to do that. That’s the best gift I can give them.”
Giving Cree and Cairo memories in the form of photos is also a great gift. Such is the reason why she allowed her friend to convince her to take pictures with her kids post-divorce.
“She said to me, ‘I know you’ve been going through some personal things, and that there have been some changes to your dynamic. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t carry on with tradition. And although things will look different, that doesn’t mean that some things are no longer worth carrying on.’”
Tia went on to tell her supporters, “Change can be tough, it can be a lot to work through and a lot to go through. But what keeps me going is my family, and they are the reason I wake up with a smile on my face everyday.”
