13-YEAR-OLD DA’VIAN KIMBROUGH MAKES HISTORY AS YOUNGEST PRO ATHLETE

Major congratulations are in order for 13-year-old soccer phenom, Da’vian Kimbrough. Kimbrough has just made history, by becoming the youngest professional soccer player in the United States.

Moreover, upon signing with the United Soccer League’s Sacramento Republic FC, Kimbrough secured the title of North America’s youngest professional athlete across major sports leagues, including the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and WNBA.

Head coach of the Sacramento Republic FC, Mark Briggs and his team are excited to welcome Kimbrough to their family. 

“Da’vian has shown tremendous focus, commitment and dedication, as well as a willingness to embrace the challenging road ahead of him,” Briggs said in a statement.

The talented forward first joined Sacramento Republic FC’s youth academy two years ago at the age of 11. During his time playing with the academy, Kimbrough racked up 61 goals in 81 matches. 

Todd Dunivant, president and general manager of Sacramento Republic FC said in a recent statement that this is “just beginning” of Kimbrough’s journey.

“He is a remarkable talent who has committed to his dream of becoming an elite player, from competing with players in older age groups, thriving at top competitions, to stepping on to the first team training grounds,” Dunivant said.

He continued, “We are honored that the Kimbrough family and Da’vian have chosen Republic FC to support his professional pathway, and we look forward to taking the next steps together.”

Upon federation and league approval, the gifted athlete could make his professional debut as soon as this coming Saturday in a match against Birmingham Legion FC.
