We are at the end of July, so that means you will all start to see back-to-school shopping ads very soon, if not already. But, even though the new school year is right around the corner, there are still a few weeks left to have some fun. According to the experts, here are a few fun and affordable things to do with kids before summer ends.
Explore your own city
There are many things to do in your own town that you may have forgotten about and not taken a trip to explore in a while. Gas up the car and explore your own city. There are museums, restaurants, zoos, libraries, etc. etc. to visit. The exciting stops are limitless. And, the best part of exploring your own city is most of the activities for summer are free or have reduced entry prices.
Game time
Game night/day can be fun and absolutely free! According to Connecticut-based therapist and certified life coach, expert Venice Garner Moore, she and her family have taken game night/day to another level and have created a game that is tailored just to her family.
“Think of games that are tailored to your family’s interest. We created a game called Name That Moore when we imitate each other and each of us must guess who we are. It cracks the kids up!”
Get outside and play
Get outside and get moving. According to Essence.com, pediatricians at Nationwide Children’s Hospital note that physical activity optimizes brain performance while natural outdoor light can improve wellness.
If you are looking for things to do while outside, you can introduce your children to some old school favorites such as Hide & Seek, Red Light Green Light, Double Dutch and Freeze Tag.
But, if you are out and about, make sure that you are keeping cool and hydrated.
Hit up the amusement parks and fairs
You don’t have to go to Disney amusement parks to have one last summer fun fling. There are several fairs and smaller amusement parks that you can take the kids to. And, don’t forget the water park which should definitely be at the top of the list. All of the amusement parks and fairs have many things to do for every member of the family and you don’t have to break the bank either.
Lastly…
Just have fun and create memorable memories
It really doesn’t matter what you do with your kids for the summer as long as you are doing something. It doesn’t have to be a massive week long vacation or something grandiose. Just as long as you are having fun and creating memories with your children, then we think that you have won summer!
