The Little Mermaid premiere in Los Angeles was extra special for two Disney Dreamers who had the opportunity to hit the blue carpet alongside Halle Bailey. The teens were dressed to impress at the event.
Halle invited Dylan Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, and Madison Henderson of Los Angeles, California, to join her at The Little Mermaid premiere after she was impressed with their performance in the program. Both Dylan and Madison were able to witness the basics of red-carpet interviews before screening the film alongside other A-list stars.
Critics created scandal after learning of Halle Bailey’s role as Ariel in The Little Mermaid remake. Halle shared her delight in being cast for the project during an interview with British Vogue.
“I don’t really let that affect me,” Bailey said when discussing the racist backlash she received. “I mean, I grew up in Georgia. I’m from the Deep South,” she added. “Being a Black woman, in general, you just know the way things are and how people sometimes are just blatantly racist,” the young star said.
Still, even with hatred sent her way, Halle continues to keep her eyes set on the main goal. “There’s a lot of eyes on me now, especially with what’s to come,” the recording artist shared with British Vogue. “And sometimes I wish I didn’t have so many eyes on me, especially experiencing something like this for the first time.”
Bailey went on to tell the press, “I try not to glorify this whole entertainment industry because it’s easy to get caught up in it. I don’t try to think of all the stuff that comes with it and how massive it could be, because that’s the part that feels like pressure.”
Fans of Halle can see her on the big screen when The Little Mermaid comes to theaters on May 26, 2023.
