“Still hard to believe I have a 5-year-old,” Dana told his social media fans. “Like, what is life,” the actor asked. “Forever grateful I get to be a part of his life.”

Jordin Sparks wrote, “Five!!!! I am so proud of who you are in every moment and who you’re becoming with every day. Thank you for being love, light, comedy, presence, mindfulness, bravery, and knowing. Being your mommy in this life is my greatest gift. YOU ARE A GIFT. You are my Sonshine. You’ll ALWAYS know, Deej, how much we love you. To infinity and beyond. Happy 5, buddy!”

Jordin and Dana welcomed their son in 2018. Little Dana made his mom and dad parents for the first time.

“I think the biggest surprise for me, because I’ve always been a really empathetic person — I adore my friends, I adore my family, and so I’ve always had a lot of love to give — I didn’t think I had anymore and then he came and I was like, ‘What is this? What is this type of love?’” Jordin said when recently discussing the joys of motherhood. “He’s just … that’s my baby. I just love him so much,” Jordin added.

Many first-time moms are reluctant to follow their intuition when rearing their children. Jordin, however, encourages new moms to go with their gut feelings.

“I think we get a lot of guilt because there’s so many things pushed on us, [but] only you know what’s best for your baby,” Sparks shared with SheKnows.

“That is the biggest thing that I want to say,” she continued. “If you have something in your gut about it, listen to it. Your baby is your baby, you know those things, those little signs or symbols and things that they give.”

“I would also just say cuddle them, hug them as much as you can, talk to them as you can. Talk to them like they’re the kindest, wisest, and most beautiful little beings, and that’s what they’ll be.”
