Erykah Badu celebrated her fashion collection, “BADU for Marni,” with a soft launch party in New York on April 29, 2023. Accompanying her to the event was Badu’s daughter and personal assistant, Puma. On Instagram, Badu expressed her gratitude to all those who attended the party and thanked her fans for their support.
“Last Night in New York @asliceofbambi Francesco Risso and I had a soft Launch party for my first collection with @marni -BADU for Marni,” she wrote. “We celebrated all the hard work and easy breaths. Thank you fam for dropping by to touch us. I love u [Puma Curry] for always supporting me. I see my value in you. Let’s go Francesco !”
During the event, Erykah took a moment to express her pride and admiration for daughter Puma before introducing her to the stage, where she dazzled the audience with her stunning vocals.
“My daughter Puma has joined us in this campaign. She was just in Marni’s most recent campaign. I am so happy and so proud of her. She is 18 years old. She is a very smart and beautiful young woman. There are many beautiful things that i see in her future,” Erykah said before introducing her daughter to sing.
Puma’s passion for music is evident as she frequently shares videos of herself singing on TikTok. It’s clear that she’s following in her mother’s musical footsteps and has inherited her talent for performing.
The 18-year-old has been working as Badu’s personal assistant for over a year and takes her role seriously. She ensures that her mother has everything she needs for her tours, including the extensive wardrobe and accessories.
“I don’t know how other family workplace dynamics go,” Puma said in a recent intervie with Vogue, “but it’s like a real job, and I have to buckle down and do what I need to do or else word is going to get to the CEO and I’m not going to get paid. You know what I mean?”
