SUNS’ DAMION LEE HAD SUPPORT OF FAMILY AS HE GOT CHAMPIONSHIP RING

Suns’ Damion Lee had the support of family as he got his long-awaited championship ring.

The Phoenix Suns shooting guard was presented his championship ring by his brother-in-law, Golden State Warrior, Stephen Curry. The team won the championship last year, prior to Lee’s move. Lee couldn’t be in attendance for the ceremony, so they gave him his own.

Lee is married to Stephen’s sister, Sydel. And, the pair have a one-year-old son, Daxon Wardell-Xavier Lee, who was born in November of 2021.

The adorable couple met each at Elon University. They began dating in 2016 and were engaged in 2017. Slydel said in a previous interview of their engagement that, “The engagement definitely caught me as a surprise,” Sydel said. “I thought that it would take him forever to ask me to marry him because it felt like it took him forever to ask me to be his girlfriend.”

The pair officially met in 2013 at Elon University where Sydel was on the volleyball team.

In addition to receiving his ring from and in the midst family, this emotional moment was additionally special because it marked a return to the Chase Center for Lee.

Lee said in an Instagram post that accompanied the photos of the moment, “I prayed more and said less… GOD did the rest!”

In terms of his professional career, according to arizonasports.com, it took Lee two seasons after going undrafted out of Louisville in 2016 to finally find somewhere in the NBA to call home. During the 2018-1019 basketball season, Lee finally realized his dreams and played the first four years for the Golden State Warriors alongside Curry.

Although he was in and out of the rotation for the team, he was touted for being a smart player, able to adjust and adapt where needed.

Lee signed with the Phoenix Suns in the offseason, holding true to his nature, becoming a consistent and smart player for his new team. Lee leads the NBA with 48.0% of 3-point percentages.
