SEASON TWO OF ABC’S “THE WONDER YEARS” HAS BEEN PUSHED TO SUMMER 2023

The reboot of the coming-of-age comedy, The Wonder Years, developed by Saladin K. Patterson, premiered on ABC on September 22, 2021. The reboot is told, this time around, from the perspective of a Black family in 1960s Alabama. The series met to acclaimed reviews and fans were hooked on the :30-minute comedy that shared life lessons. Although, season two of the series was slated to return to the airwaves midseason; The Wonder Years has been pushed to the summer of 2023.

According to Variety, a new sitcom, Not Dead Yet, will be filling the time slot on Wednesday’s, behind Abbot Elementary. Per the popular entertainment news outlet, the push was necessary as there is no room for another half-hour series.

Yet, when the popular series returns for its sophomore season, the guest star line-up will be well worth the wait. Guest stars slated to put in an appearance on the series include: Patti LaBelle, Wayne Brady, Tituss Burgess, Donald Faison, Phoebe Robinson and Bradley Whitford.

If by some chance, you aren’t quite familiar with the show, well, here is a synopsis according to Deadline.

Inspired by the 1988 series of the same name, The Wonder Years is an original coming-of-age comedy that tells the story of the Williams family during the late 1960s. The series is narrated through the point of view of imaginative 12-year-old Dean, as he navigates growing up in a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, and the friendship, laughter, and lessons learned along the way.

The Wonder Years stars Don Cheadle, narrating the series as adult Dean Williams, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Dean Williams, Dulé Hill as Bill Williams, Saycon Sengbloh as Lillian Williams, Laura Kariuki as Kim Williams, Julian Lerner as Brad Hitman, Amari O’Neil as Cory Long and Milan Ray as Keisa Clemmons.

Lee Daniels, Saladin K. Patterson, Marc Velez, and Bob Daily all serve as executive producers for the show.

As of yet, we don’t have an exact premiere date. The network will announce it at a later time. Therefore, you have time to make sure to catch up on season one before season two hits the airwaves!
