The Black-ish alum serves as a producer for the film as well. Recently, she was a guest host on ET and dished a little more about the upcoming movie, stating that with this film, she had the opportunity to step behind the camera, and that doing so has become, “a new passion of mine… I love to create any way, any shape or form.”

“Having it, at the core, being a father-daughter thing is absolutely beautiful,” she marveled, noting that she had some real-life experience to lean on. “My dad is a big Madden fan… He loves everything football, so just like how your dad teaches the kid how to drive, that was my dad teaching me how to play Madden.”

The film was originally developed as a father-son family comedy by Richard T. Jones, Jeremy Loethen, and Tim Ogletree as a part of LeBron James’ SpringHill Company. To have the Black-ish alum and her company, Genius Entertainment, both be a part of the project, they rewrote the script to have her star in the project.

In addition to Martin, the cast includes: Omari Hardwick (as Martin’s father), Kelly Rowland (as Martin’s mother), and Rome Flynn. Elijah Richardson, Hanani Taylor, Abigail Killmeier, Tyla Harris, and Isac Ivan.

If you haven’t quite heard of the project, here is a brief synopsis of what to expect according to Variety and JustJaredJr.com.

In this hilarious and heartwarming father-daughter sports fantasy, everything changes when Callie A. Coleman (Martin) discovers she can magically control her father, Bobby’s (Hardwick) performance on the football field. When Callie plays as her dad, a running back for the Atlanta Falcons, in EA SPORTS Madden NFL 23, Bobby is transformed from a fumblitis-plagued journeyman to a star running back bound for superstardom alongside his daughter and wife Keisha (Rowland).

Fantasy Football debuts exclusively on Paramount+ on November 25!
