“I’m very attached to my son,” Minaj shares with Justin Sylvester. “I remember being in the U.K. and just bawling. And when I try to FaceTime him, I get more sad,” the rapper reveals. “So, I try to hold out on FaceTiming him because to then put the phone down is so difficult.”

Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, welcomed their son in September 2020. Papa Bear arrived weeks after his mom confirmed her expectancy of a child. Many loyal Nicki Minaj fan suspected she was pregnant because of the angles the rapper took in pictures she shared on her Instagram wall. Nicki’s appearance in a music video in 2020 sealed the deal for many who clearly saw a baby bump in the clips.

Although her schedule remains packed with performances and other engagements, Nicki Minaj remains committed to rearing her son without a host of nannies for now.

“I’m a Trinidadian woman,” Minaj tells E! News. “Culturally, we’re not really used to nannies and strangers taking care of the babies,” she shares. “It’s not a bad thing when moms do it. It’s just that I have to get conditioned,” the celebrity mom says. “I have to get it out of my mind that it’s a weird thing, because there are tons of celebrities that are doing it and they’re raising amazing children.”

Speaking of children, Are Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty planning to have more kids in the near future?

“I do want to have more,” Minaj tells the press. “Not at this moment,” she adds. “But I don’t want to deprive my son of siblings,” Minaj reveals. “Having siblings, it causes you to have problem management skills early on in life. I would feel guilty if I didn’t give Papa Bear another sibling or two.”
