Fourteen-year-old Kyan Samuels has just gotten the opportunity of a lifetime. The young actor is set to star in the upcoming Disney series, Pretty Freekin’ Scary.

“I can FINALLY announce that I have been blessed 🙏🏽 with the opportunity of a lifetime,” the teen posted on Instagram. “I’ll get to play the role of PRETTY! So grateful to amazing producers, dream production, incredible casting directors, and my awesome team for making this possible. To top it all off.. I get to work with the dopest cast!”

Pretty Freekin’ Scary is based on the popular book series by the same name. The upcoming show will span 20 episodes on the children’s entertainment network. The new series is the first from a development deal between CakeStart Entertainment and Disney. Former VP Original Series for Disney, Kory Lunsford, is president and partner at CakeStart and couldn’t be more exited about the upcoming project.

“Millions of kids and families around the world share the deep appreciation I have for the Disney brand and the kinds of imaginative, inspiring and relevant stories and interesting characters that reflect that brand and the world we live in,” Kory Lunsford said in a recent interview with Deadline. “We are excited to kick off this creative endeavor with a show like Pretty Freekin’ Scary, which brings me back to my Disney Channel roots.”

So, just what action can Disney fans expect from this new show? Well, here’s a synopsis of the action according to JustJaredJr.com.

Pretty Freekin Scary follows the adventures of Frankie Ripp, a 14-year-old girl who has a seemingly perfect life – great parents, annoying little brother, lifelong BFF – until she dies. After some heated debate in the Underworld with the Grim Reaper herself, Frankie is allowed to return home, but only if she’s accompanied by her new Underworld guardians, Pretty and Scary. Frankie will now have to adapt to her ‘once-dead’ status in the most challenging setting of all…Middle School.

In addition to Samuels, show will aslo star Eliana Su’a as Frankie, Leah Mei Gold as Scary, Yonas Kibreab as Remy, and Emma Shannon as Nyx.

Pretty Freekin’ Scary is set to debut in the summer of 2023 on both Disney and Disney+.
