R-Kelly’s fiancée, Joycelyn Savage, is reportedly pregnant with their first child together. The 26-year-old revealed the news to ET Online and explained why her fiancé’s lawyer denies her expectancy.
“His lawyer didn’t know that prior to him going to jail, Robert and I were doing IVF because at the time I was told I couldn’t have a baby,” Savage told the media source. “When he got sent to prison, we paused on it and I had them freeze my eggs until I was ready,” she further explained.
“Once his lawyer did find out, she wanted me to have an abortion because she didn’t feel that now was the time for me to have a child following the 30-year sentence,” Savage told ET. “Me and Robert (sic) wanted to have a child for a long time. He is very happy about it, [but] his lawyer isn’t. Once I told her I was keeping my baby, she didn’t want me to announce but I wanted to share the news. I’ve always been there for him even before this new lawyer came into the picture.”
R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering in June. US District Court Judge Ann Donnelly handed down the sentence to the praise of R. Kelly’s victims, which spanned 30 years.
“I started this journey 30 years ago,” Jovante Cunningham, a former backup singer for Kelly, shared in a statement outside the court. “There wasn’t a day in my life up until this moment that I actually believed that the judicial system would come through for Black and brown girls,” the artist continued. “I stand here very proud of my judicial system, very proud of my fellow survivors, and very pleased with the outcome.”
Investigation into R. Kelly began in 2019 after Lifetime aired the documentary series <em<Surviving R. Kelly, which gave several of his victims a platform to speak out about the sexual abuses suffered at the hands of the R&B singer. The documentary served as a sort of jumping-off point as more of Kelly’s victims came out with their stories after the series aired.
