Idris Elba’s daughter, Isan Elba, did not talk to her father for three weeks after failing to land a role in his Beast film. Idris recently shared the mild fallout that ensued after Isan received the disappointing news that she was not cast in the movie.
Will Packer, the producer of Beast, delivered the bad news. “I called and talked to her, ’cause I’ve known her for a very long time, you know what I mean,” Packer shared with the press. “I’m like ‘Uncle Will,'” he added when discussing his relationship with Idris Elba’s daughter. “That’s like my little niece, you know, and she’s amazing.”
Packer and Elba agreed that the “chemistry” between Isan and her father onset was not quite right. “The relationship in the film and the relationship between my daughter was, the chemistry wasn’t right for [the] film,” Idris share during a recent visit to The Breakfast Club.
Isan was not happy about the decision and responded by giving her father silent treatment for nearly a month. The rising actress ultimately came around. “We got through that you know and I’m really proud of her to go through that, not get the role, but still come to the premiere,” Idris said of his daughter’s growth.
Isan accompanied her father to the Beast premiere a few weeks back. The movie is set in the jungle where the lion is king and everyone else is subject to his authority. Iris portrays a father of two daughters in the film who learns what it means to be under the rule of a lion who has gone wild. The beast knows all the hideouts, which makes it difficult for the father and his daughters to slip underneath the radar. Survival will take lots of skill and courage. Will the father and his daughters make it out?
