iCarly fans rejoice! The popular Paramount+ show, starring Jaidyn Triplett, has been officially renewed for season three!
According to Variety , This will mark the ninth season of the series overall. The original show ran for six seasons on Nickelodeon, spanning 2007 to 2012. The third season of the revival, which now calls Paramount+ home, will debut in 2023.
“’iCarly’s’ loyal fan base grew up with Carly, Spencer and Freddie, and have now fallen in love with Harper and Millicent, too,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of streaming for Paramount+ in a recent interview. “We’re thrilled to have Miranda, Jerry, Nathan, Laci and Jaidyn return for a third season and we know Paramount+’s growing YA audience is as well. And I, for one, must find out what happens with #Creddie!”
BCKOnline had the opportunity to exclusively interview one of the star’s of the show, Jaidyn Triplett, a few months ago about her role. In her interview, Jaidyn shared that, she and her character Millicent unquestionably have a lot in common.
“Millicent is Freddie’s step daughter from his last marriage. I was featured in one of my favorite episodes during season one that explained more of my back story. I enjoyed having the audience get to see why she is the way she is. She is smart, strong willed, and very independent,” Tiplett told BCKOnline. “She is a business women already who knows how to get what she wants. We have a lot in common, although I tell people she is my alter ego. She has the best one liners though. I love it.”
In her BCKOnline interview, Triplett went on to say that she hopes that OG and new fans alike take away a feeling of nostalgia when they see the reboot.
“I think what l look for in reboots is that nostalgic feeling. When l see original characters or places from the original series, l feel a sense of warmth. I hope that people who are watching iCarly feel this too. The response has been really amazing and we did just win a Kids Choice award so I think the OG fans are really loving it!”
iCarly is set to return to production later on this year and will be ready for a 2023 premiere.
In addition to Triplett, the popular show stars Laci Mosley and OG characters: Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor.
