Recently, Jaidyn sat down with BCKOnline to talk about the iCarly reboot and more in an exclusive BCKOnline interview.
Check out what she had to say below!
BCKOnline: How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
Jaidyn Triplett: My dad has been acting for a long time and one day when he came home he heard me repeating lines from his audition. He then noticed that I was really good at learning/memorizing lines even before knowing how to read. I’ve been in the industry ever since and it’s been the time of my life. [I have] worked on some great projects and met so many amazing people.
BCKOnline: What is most rewarding about being an actor?
Jaidyn Triplett: I think being able to meet sweet and experienced people who genuinely love what they do. During the time that I’ve been acting, I’ve learned so much from those l have met on set.
BCKOnline: You play Millicent in the new iCarly, tell us about your character. How similar and different is she to your real personality?
Jaidyn Triplett: Millicent is Freddie’s step daughter from his last marriage. I was featured in one of my favorite episodes during season one that explained more of my back story. I enjoyed having the audience get to see why she is the way she is. She is smart, strong willed, and very independent. She is a business women already who knows how to get what she wants. We have a lot in common, although I tell people she is my alter ego. She has the best one liners though. I love it.
BCKOnline: What has been your favorite moment on the set of iCarly?
Jaidyn Triplett: There are so many fun times but my favorite may be the pranks and stuff. With COVID it can be hard to really connect so we find time to really enjoy each other when we are not filming. There have been times where I may accidentally skip a step in the scene or prank Jerry and it’s so funny! I think all the bloopers and little pranks we pull are the best part of when the cameras are not on. Jerry, who’s like 7 foot 8 😅 will put my phone behind the set at about his height so l can’t find it. We all love each other immensely and the pranks are our way of saying that.
BCKOnline: What is the one thing you hope audiences take away from the reboot of this classic/favorite show for so many?
Jaidyn Triplett: I think what l look for in reboots is that nostalgic feeling. When l see original characters or places from the original series, l feel a sense of warmth. I hope that people who are watching iCarly feel this too. The response has been really amazing and we did just win a Kids Choice award so I think the OG fans are really loving it!
BCKOnline: What has been the best advice that you’ve gotten about being in the entertainment industry?
Jaidyn Triplett: The best advice comes from my family and closest supporters, they remind me that I am enough, and that acting is what I do, it’s not who I am. So my family does a great job at keeping my career separate from my personal life. Other than that, do your best and keep it moving, You can’t over think of you can stress yourself out.
BCKOnline: If you weren’t acting, what would you be doing instead?
Jaidyn Triplett: My dad is professional singer and when l was about eight years old, I wrote my first song. Ever since then, I discovered my love for singing and songwriting. I also have a strong passion for cooking. I started my own cooking show called, Look who’s cooking now! which has two episodes available on our family YouTube channel called the Triplett Family Network! And that has been a dream come true for me. I think being both a singer and a chef would be amazing.
BCKOnline: You are an Afro-Latina actress. Would you one day like to work in the Spanish-language arena?
Jaidyn Triplett: Yes! I’ve been taking Spanish classes for about 6 months now and hopefully one day l can be apart of a project where l can speak Spanish fluently. My teacher is amazing and I really see the progress.
BCKOnline: What advice would you give to kids who want to follow in your footsteps?
Jaidyn Triplett: My mom used to tell me this when l was little and still tells this to me today, “You are enough”. This has helped me throughout my years of acting because there are going to be negative people in this world. No matter how positive you are, one negative thing can tear you down. It’s very important to know that your opinion is the only one that matters. If you listen to what other people have to say, you’re never going to be happy with anything you do. You are enough. This thought process has really helped me through my career because there are ALOT of NO’s before you get that one yes. In fact, I was up for about seven shows at the time I was offered the role of Millicent.
BCKOnline: What is next for you?
Jaidyn Triplett: I am featured in the Nickelodeon Slime cup which will air this summer. I am a guest star in a new show on Disney, that will be coming this summer as well. My family and I are really looking forward to a great movie opportunity for me, that would be so much fun. And I just started going to the recording studio to work on some new music which I hope to release later this year. You can always subscribe to my family YouTube channel, Triplett Family Network to see what’s going on with us, we post three vlogs every week including my cooking show and some other great content I am producing with my family. I am so excited to see what’s next. It’s been a very exciting year.
And of course, we cannot wait see what’s to come for Jaidyn. We have a feeling that is is truly going to be nothing less than amazing!
