“A big milestone for the both of we (sic),” Joshua told his social media fans on Saturday (Jul. 16). “Words cannot fathom the emotion I’m feeling,” Joshua continued. “Love you more than cook food mini-me,” the recording artist wrote to his son.

Fans learned of Joshua fathering a child earlier this year. Many were pleasantly surprised to get wind of the news since Caleb made Rohan Marley and Lauryn Hill grandparents for the first time.

Rohan took to Instagram on Saturday to celebrate his grandson’s birthday by providing more insight into the names of both Caleb and Joshua. “Joshua and Caleb were the two spies who brought back a good report and believed that God would help them succeed,” Rohan told his social media fans.

“They were the only men from their generation permitted to go into the Promised Land after the time of wandering,” the legendary recording artist said in reference to the Biblical story in which Joshua and Caleb help the Israelites seize the land of Canaan.

Rohan Marley continues in the tradition of his family as a Rastafarian. The movement was made popular during the twentieth century by his father, Bob Marley. “I give credit to my family and what I have learned from my father,” Rohan said during a recent intervie with ORIGIN magazine.

“Through Rastafari and Haile Selassie I,” he continued. “I learned about the roots of all things in Ethiopia. We learned to do things like the practice of life, how to pray, how to fast, and the origins of all things,” Rohan said of the lifestyle he has passed down to his kids.

“Through this, I am able to connect [to] the Ethiopian way of life,” he added. “That’s my real connection to the roots.”
