Shay Johnson is a new mom! The reality star announced on Instagram yesterday that she welcomed a baby girl via C-section.
She wrote, “HAD A SAFE DELIVERY and @iamshajiyah is perfect!! 6 pounds 15 ounces… I’m officially apart of the mommy club … This process was emotional but thank you ALL for your support!! Go follow my daughter @iamshajiyah.”
Johnson shared earlier in the day that she was scheduled to have a C-section due to her history with fibroids. “Delivery time for @iamshajiyah Let’s Go!… This was the moment I’ve been waiting for and running from at the same time. Emotions: scared, nervous, happy, excited, anxious, terrified… Running out of this hospital is what i wanted to do but thank God for my Moms.”
She continued, “Due to my previa, myomectomy, and fibroids this c section was a must!! Prays was all that’s needed! LETS GO @iamshajiyah

The road to motherhood hasn’t been easy for the 38-year-old reality star. In 2019, Johnson revealed that her fertility was being compromised by two large fibroids, one the size of a grapefruit. Shay experienced symptoms that included blood clots “larger than the palm of her hand” and fainting spells due to anemia.
“I had every last symptom X’s 10!” she said in an Instagram post. “Other symptoms included my anemia which increased because my iron was extremely low do to heavy long extended [menstruation]. My menstrual would last up to 14 days. When I was normal it was it six days. I was also advised at the rate my tumor was growing it would affect me having children.
Baby Shajiyah is the first child for Shay. “Her name is Arabic and means ‘BRAVE’. My daughter was named by my mommy. Thanks mom I love her name,” Johnson shared in a post last month.
