WarnerMedia Kids & Family Honors Black History Month with a Celebration of Black artists and authors on their Cartoon Network and Cartoonito social media accounts.
The network’s will spotlight 15 Black creators on its Instagram accounts throughout the month of February, aligning with their brand promise, Redraw Your World. According to a recent press release, Redraw Your World aims to empower the audience to be confident in who they are and embrace their uniqueness.
The creators that were selected will each will be gifted an iPad, Apple Pencil, and Apple gift card, along with a custom branded Redraw Your World case. These artists are encouraged to redraw their world and continue to inspire through their work depicting Black joy, family, culture and social justice.
The network chose these 15 Black creators as a result of their dedication and commitment to create content to enrich, educate, and uplift the Black community and society as a whole.
In addition to Redraw Your World, Cartoonito on Cartoon Network and The Conscious Kid will honor Black History Month in their own unique way with a book giveaway and list of suggested Black History stories written by inspiring Black authors.
The list of book suggestions has compiled a reading list that teaches all about Black History, encouraging the celebration of Black heritage, and education about the struggles, discrimination, joys, and triumph of the Black experience, with the hopes of sparking meaningful conversations in honor of Black History Month.
The full booklist for all ages and giveaway details are available on The Conscious Kid website, as well as the Cartoonito Instagram page. Among the booklist are titles that include meaningful stories as “Mae Among the Stars” by Roda Ahmed, “Follow Your Dreams, Little One” by Vashti Harrison, “Before She Was Harriet” by Lesa Cline-Ransome, and “Reaching for the Moon: The Autobiography of NASA Mathematician Katherine Johnson,” as well as many others.
