“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” the joint statement read. “And so we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage.”
“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty,” the statement continued. “The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become…”
The statement concluded, “Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life and our children. Teaching our children what’s possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail. J & L.”
The couple, who married in October 2017, share two children — daughter Lola Iolani, 12, and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha, 10. Momoa is also the bonus father to actress Zoe Kravitz, Bonet’s daughter with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.
“I really can’t tell you what the hell I was doing before I had kids – just f–king off,” Momoa said in his December 2017 Men’s Health cover story. “Wasting time. I think I was pretty reckless and definitely a bit out of control. Now I’m more focused. I probably love myself more and take care of myself more because I want to stick around.”
Adding, “My kids are my greatest piece of art. If I can pump them full of amazing stuff and surround them with beautiful art and music, then I’m going to live out my life watching them. They’re already way smarter and just way better than me. God, I love it. It’s beautiful.”
