Jeannie Mai and Jeezy have welcomed their first child together. Jeannie Mai took to her Instagram earlier today to announce the baby news.
She shared a photo of her baby’s blanket and simply captioned, ”I asked God for a life of love and happiness. He sent me my family.”
Jeannie Mai and her husband, rapper Jeezy, decided not to find out the sex of their baby.
“I don’t want to because I realized, Nischelle, how many surprises do you actually have in life?” Mai explained in an interview. “This is the ultimate one.”
“I want to have a gender-free planning with my husband,” she continued. “So everything that we are excited to do should apply to the child, no matter if it’s a boy or a girl.”
Mai first announced her pregnancy back in September during an episode of The Real.
“We’ve been going strong for eight seasons, and for the first seven seasons I kept telling the ladies, ‘I will never have a baby.’ So I always listened from that angle,” she explained. “[So] to go through a whole life transformation because of a relationship and because of growth and evolution, I’m learning this in real time.”
According to Mai, it was falling in love with Jeezy that changed her mind about becoming a mom despite previously stating that she didn’t want any kids
“I was always — and still am — very protective of women and people who don’t want to have kids,” she tells the camera in the confessional-style show. “I don’t like the guilt and the pressure that’s placed on women to have children. Just because we’re women, it means that we have the choice; it doesn’t mean that we have to have children.”
She continued, “I just begin to fall into love with Jeezy that I had never experienced before, and this love opened up visions and dreams of things I wanted to do with him that I never pictured doing: building a future, building a family, building the type of childhood and the type of freedom and love that we didn’t always have as kids in someone new,” she said.
