There are many perks to being a working mom. Missing monumental moments in your kids’ lives isn’t one of the benefits. Gabrielle Union took to Instagram over the weekend to share the pain of missing her daughter’s Christmas program and what she did to make it up to Kaavia James.
“[The] hardest part about being a working Mom is missing important events in your kid’s lives,” Union told her social media fans on Friday (Dec. 3). “Today I missed @kaaviajames holiday program at school and felt so awful to disappoint her,” Gabrielle told her Instagram followers. “So I did the next best thing and I became her hype woman before I left for work,” Union said.
Kaavia James received much hype from her mom prior to the Christmas program. The excitement was not enough, however, to get the youngster excited about performing in front of people for the holidays. “If you were wondering how my holiday pageant at school went … We shoulda done The Grinch,” a post on Kaavia’s Instagram account read. Gabrielle and her husband, Dwyane Wade, also uploaded footage from the event that showed Kaav giving one of her classmates the side-eye. Shady Baby took center stage at the Christmas pageant!
“She’s simply not here for the shenanigans and I feel her,” Mashonda Tifrere wrote in response to a video clip that showed Kaavia making her way through the audience. The youngster gave high-fives to a few people before finding her father who gave his little one lots of love. “Ah, Kaavia,” another fan said. “She never lets me down,” the Instagram supporter added in reference to the energy Shady Baby brought to the event.
In addition to giving Kaavia James support, social media followers also gave Gabrielle Union praise for being a great mom. “It’s ok,” celebrity makeup artist Autumn Moultrie wrote in support of Gabrielle. “I missed Izzy’s first piano recital at age 4, due to work obligations,” Moultrie shared with Union.
Kaavia James is Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s only child together. Dwyane Wade has four kids in all.
