The reboot of upcoming Peacock show’s trailer was dropped earlier this week, demonstrating that the sitcom that we all know and love has transformed into something a lot more series.
Will Smith, who starred in the original NBC show, narrates the 40-second clip by somberly speaking the original lyrics from the theme song.

Jabari Banks will star as Will in the upcoming reboot. Curious about what’s to come? Check-out a brief synopsis of the upcoming show below.
Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the 90’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.
According to the official synopsis, the one-hour, instead of 30-minute will explore “Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a re-imagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.”
The show will also star Adrian Holmes as Phillip Banks, Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks, Coco Jones as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey, Jordan L. Jones as Jazz, and Simone Joy Jones as Lisa. Will Smith will serve as producer of Bel-Air as well.
When Smith saw the re-imagined teaser, that was created by Morgan Cooper, he was amazed.
“Everybody sent it to me,” Will Smith said when announcing Bel-Air‘s series order. “It was outstanding. I had NEVER envisioned revisiting the Banks family in this way. We knew this was special, so we called @ryokanproductions and asked him to lead the team (he wrote on The Wire) and he said YES! Months of writing, developing and pitching… and now it’s happening.”
Bel-Air will premiere on Peacock in 2022.
