Serena Williams and her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., wore matching outfits to the King Richard premiere this past weekend. The tennis star and her little one were ready for the spotlight at the event held at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California, on Sunday (Nov. 14).
Black was the color of the evening as both Alexis and Serena’s outfits were Black with remnants of silver. Serena’s outfit differed slightly from that of her daughter’s in that the tennis star’s attire was a bit more edgy with a shorter pants leg on the right side. Alexis Olympia’s red carpet attire was a full-length pants jumpsuit on both sides.
“The cutest,” Aoki Lee Simmons wrote in response to an Instagram post published by Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian Sr., after the premiere. “The matching outfit and the matching pose is incredible,” another fan said in reference to Alexis Olympia matching her mom’s energy with a nearly identical pose on the red carpet. “Beautiful family,” the social media follower added.
King Richard is the story of Venus and Serena Williams’ father, Richard Williams, who was instrumental in helping his daughters establish themselves as professional tennis players during their younger years. Will Smith portrayed the tenacious father who refused to accept anything outside of excellence from his children.
“It really is super surreal for me and then to have Will play this role as my father and the way he embodied Richard Williams, it took the film to a whole other level,” Serena Williams said of Will Smith’s amazing acting skills in the forthcoming film. “It’s so emotional, it’s well done, and it’s a brilliant piece of work,” Serena concluded regarding the movie as a whole.
King Richard – starring Will Smith, Aunjanue Ellis, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, and more – comes to theaters on Friday, November 19, 2021.
