Disney recently announced a long list of A-listers that will voice guest-star on the upcoming reboot of the Proud Family. Lil Nas X, Normani, and Lizzo are set to guest star on the Proud Family reboot, but that’s not all. Additionally, Gabrielle Union, Lena Waithe, Chance the Rapper, Tiffany Haddish, Marsai Martin, Jaden Smith and Leslie Odom Jr. will also lend their voices as guest stars to the upcoming Disney animated series.
In a recent short film that was released, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original show, Waithe, Union, Kyla Pratt and Keke Palmer were featured discussing the series and its lasting impact.
“I did the ‘Proud Family’ when I was 14-years-old,” said Pratt, who played the leading role of Penny Proud on the popular series. “I didn’t realize the impact that it had on me recording it, it was having that same impact on the people watching.”
Lena Waithe said in the video that the show was, “so relatable.” She continued, “It was very specific, it looked like our family.”
Keke Palmer said, “Even though it was on a kids’ network, it still had the right amount of edge for it be accessible to everybody.”
The long-awaited revival of The Proud Family, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, will premiere on Disney+ in 2022. Creators and executive producers, Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar return to the series, along with the original cast members.
Reprising their voice roles are: Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez. Cedric the Entertainer will also return as Uncle Bobby Proud.
