“Not Your Boo” is definitely going to head straight up the charts because it not only is sung/rapped by That Girl Lay Lay, it also includes a hook from R&B singer Twellly, putting a new spin on the 1980s Miami Bass sound “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs.
The original song was released in 1996 through Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def. Earlier this month, guess who was spotted working with Dupri herself? You guessed it, That Girl Lay Lay was in studio creating music magic.
In addition to her latest music, That Girl Lay Lay is keeping us all counting down the days until the debut of her new Nickelodeon series, That Girl Lay Lay.
That Girl Lay Lay will premiere on Thursday, September 23 at 7:30 pm ET/PT. The new series will follow Lay Lay, an avatar from a personal affirmation app that magically comes to life, and her best friend Sadie, portrayed by Gabrielle Nevaeh Green, as they navigate life as teenagers and discover who they truly are.
According to a recent press release, in the premier episode, Sadie wishes upon a star that her hype-girl avatar, Lay Lay, were real, causing Lay Lay to magically come to life. Now that she is in the real world with Sadie, Lay Lay decides that she wants a teenage experience herself and enrolls in the local school. Using her innate charm, Lay Lay convinces Sadie that she needs to come out of her shell and the best way for her to stand out is to run for student council.
In addition to That Girl Lay Lay and Gabrielle Nevaeh Green, the new series will also star Peyton Perrine III as Sadie’s brother, Marky; Tiffany Daniels as Sadie’s mom, Trish; Thomas Hobson as Sadie’s dad, Bryce; and Caleb Brown as Lay Lay and Sadie’s classmate, Jeremy.
